I was born in a small town outside of Ottawa to two very hard-working and devoted parents – they had to be, as I was the fourth of five children. Being raised in a busy, sometimes chaotic environment taught me that respect, hard work, and an openness to teamwork go a long way in achieving one’s goals. Despite the demands on my mom and dad, I was never short of opportunities to participate in sports growing up and over time gravitated toward hockey, lacrosse, and golf.
Following university, I started my career as a Portfolio Administrator for the brokerage arm of one of Canada’s chartered banks. From there, I took a position as an Investment Analyst at a consulting firm, where I soon climbed the ranks to become an Associate Vice President. During that time, I was a member of the firm’s national research team and assisted in the expansion, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of its business development strategy. I also worked closely with the company’s Indigenous client base, serving as relationship liaison, attending annual general meetings, and conducting quarterly performance reviews for several communities.
In 2019, I joined Dixon Mitchell to help with the development of institutional business strategy and to assist in the maintenance of existing client relationships. With my extensive background in Indigenous portfolio construction, performance monitoring, and investment education, I also took a lead position in this important part of the firm’s offering. When I’m not in the office or out in the field visiting clients, I enjoy traveling with my wife and staying active playing hockey and golf.
