I count myself as fortunate to have been born and raised in the beautiful flatlands of Saskatchewan, where the rural values of community spirit, hard work, and integrity were ingrained in me from the start. I spent much of my youth skating on the outdoor rinks through Saskatoon, cross country skiing along the riverbed, and playing softball. When I wasn’t playing sports or volunteering, I worked wherever I could, taking jobs that ranged from doing the books for a manufacturing company to caddying at the local golf course.
During my final years of high school, I relocated to Vancouver. I graduated with honors from the Financial Management program at BCIT and began my career in 2000, when I joined a major investment management company. There, I not only gained experience and immersed myself in the comprehensive training provided by the firm, I also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designations. In 2008, I made the move to a national investment counsellor that worked exclusively with affluent physicians and, in 2013, I joined Dixon Mitchell. In addition to providing investment counsel, I hold a leadership role with DM’s administrative staff and Associate Portfolio Managers, which allows me to share the experience gained through more than two decades of helping individuals and families invest and enjoy their wealth.
Outside of work, I volunteer as Treasurer for Benefits of Caring, an organization that supports Ovarian Cancer Canada, and have delivered multiple educational programs for Junior Achievement Canada. I am a past President of CFA Society Vancouver (2018-2019), a Director and member of the Executive Committee of CFA Societies Canada, and recipient of the 2018 CFA Society Vancouver Volunteer of the Year Award. I have a beautiful young daughter and enjoy seeing the world through her eyes. We are very active in the local sports and arts communities and I look forward to sharing the world with her through travel!
